Traveling with a dog changes what you need from a rental: a yard, a plan for the beach day, and hosts who welcome the pup instead of merely tolerating it. Six of our seven private pool homes allow pets. Here is how it works, what we list for fees, and what the official city and county pages say about dogs on Pinellas beaches and parks, because most Pinellas beaches do not allow them.

How our pet policy works
- Tell us when you book. Please include your pets in your booking request so we can prepare the home.
- Up to 2 pets at the homes that state a limit (Goodtimes, Indian Shores, On the Creek, Hibiscus House and The Salty Parrot). If you travel with more, ask us before you book.
- Fees. Where a pet fee applies it appears in your total price before you pay. Goodtimes Waterfront, Indian Shores Family Oasis and Hibiscus House currently list $150 per stay. For the other homes, check the price breakdown for your dates.
- Be a good neighbor. Please pick up after your pets on the property and around the neighborhood, and keep them off the grass parking area.
- Casa Blue Horizon has no pets. Please choose a different home if your dog is coming.

The beach question: where dogs are and are not allowed
This is the part that surprises most visitors. Pinellas is a beach county, but most of its beaches are closed to dogs. Here is what the official sources say.

The takeaway: if your dog is coming to the beach, plan a day around Fort De Soto and treat the sand at our nearby beaches as a people only outing. Dog parks and county parks for the rest of the week
Pinellas County’s dog park page lists eight county parks with dog areas: Fort De Soto Park, A.L. Anderson Park, Boca Ciega Millennium Park, John Chesnut Sr. Park, Eagle Lake Park, Raymond H. Neri Park, Sand Key Park and Walsingham Park. The rules the county posts include:
- Dogs must be on a leash when entering and exiting the dog park, and outside dog park areas.
- Dogs must be licensed and vaccinated and display tags on their collars.
- Handlers are limited to three dogs, and dogs must be at least 4 months old.
- Parks close at sunset.
- Pet dogs are welcome in county parks on a leash, but not on boardwalks and observation towers.
The closest options to our Largo homes are Eagle Lake Park (1800 Keene Road, Largo, with two areas for large dogs and one for smaller dogs, open 7 days a week from 7 a.m. to sunset per the county page), Walsingham Park (9 minutes from Goodtimes by our data) and Sand Key Park (15 minutes). A guest at Indian Shores mentioned a dog area at Seminole City Park across the street. We could not confirm that on an official page, so check with the City of Seminole before you count on it. A sample dog friendly week
- Arrival day. Let the dog explore the yard on a leash, then settle in.
- Dog park morning. Eagle Lake, Walsingham or Sand Key. Bring license and vaccination proof.
- Home and pool day. Yard time, a swim for the humans, and a fire pit evening.
- Fort De Soto day. Bring water, shade and towels, and check the county page for current dog beach rules before you drive out.
- People beach morning. Take turns with the beach so someone stays with the dog, since dogs are not allowed on the sand.
Packing for a dog
- Bedding, bowls, towels and waste bags.
- Vaccination records and the license tag, which the county requires for its dog parks.
- A crate if your dog uses one.
- A long leash for the yard and a short one for parks.
- An old towel for the car after Fort De Soto.
Other rules that apply to every stay
The person booking must be 21 or older, a digital agreement and a photo ID are required before check-in instructions are sent, and quiet hours run from 9 PM to 9 AM, which matters for a barking dog. No. The City of Clearwater says no dogs, cats or pets are allowed on the public bathing beach on Clearwater Beach, except service animals, and Indian Rocks Beach says pets are not allowed on the beach, with a $500 fine. Madeira Beach also says dogs are not permitted on its city beaches.
Fort De Soto Park is the only Pinellas County park where dogs are allowed on a beach, in a designated area. Review the county’s dog park rules before you go.
