The best vacation homes for teenagers, big groups and rainy afternoons are the ones with something to do indoors. Five of our seven private pool homes have a game room or a pool table, and the other two have outdoor games instead. This page lists what is in each one according to our listings, then helps you match a home to the ages in your group and gives you a plan for the days the weather does not cooperate.

A closer look at each game room
- Indian Shores Family Oasis: the game room has a mid-size pool table, foosball, shuffleboard and a 75-inch TV, with a magnetic dart board and board games. There is a Peloton bike, and a separate kids’ playroom with an indoor slide, swing and toddler play area. Guests call it “the fun house” (Erin T., Aug 2026).
- On the Creek: a converted garage holds a pool table, foosball and a PS5. Guests also mention an arcade, so check the listing photos for the current setup. The backyard, with a heated pool, fire pit and dock, is the other draw.
- Casa Blue Horizon: the most equipped game room we have: PS5, 75-inch TV, air hockey, arcade basketball, two arcade machines and board games. A pool table sits between the living and dining spaces and there is a popcorn machine.
- Goodtimes Waterfront: a pool table, poker table, board games, giant Connect 4, an Xbox and Oculus VR, and a popcorn machine. It has a separate kids’ wing with TVs, so adults can stay up with a game of pool while children sleep.
- The Salty Parrot: a pool table that converts into a dining table, and a ping pong table. Every bedroom has a TV.

Outdoor games too
Several homes add outdoor games such as cornhole, giant Connect Four and giant Jenga, and fire pits for the evening. Tortuga Hideaway is a good match if you want outdoor games and a quieter setting with a heated saltwater pool and a pond behind the house. Hibiscus House has jumbo Connect 4, volleyball and cornhole in the backyard, and guests also mention throwing stars there. It is our lowest nightly rate, and one guest wrote “Saved money being able to have fun at the house” (Jeremy H., Mar 2025). The tradeoff is one bathroom and beaches roughly 20 to 30 minutes away.
Age by age: who will actually use it
Toddlers and babies (about 1 to 3)
Game rooms are built for older kids, and a pool table is not a toddler activity. At Indian Shores Family Oasis the listing describes a toddler play area with a mat, and reviews mention indoor slide and swing. It has door alarms, outlet covers and other child-proofing on the listing, but one May 2026 guest said a listed pool alarm and canopy were not there, so ask us before you rely on any safety feature. Young kids (about 4 to 8)
Guests with children in this range mention the indoor slide, foosball, shuffleboard, cornhole and jumbo Connect Four. At Indian Shores, a guest whose 6 year old loved the slide said so in a review, and another wrote “the kids will be forever grateful for that indoor slide” (Kathie A., Sep 2024). At Hibiscus House, a family with sons aged 4, 6 and 8 wrote about outdoor games and the pool. Supervision matters at any home with a pool. For the water, see the pool safety guide above.
Tweens and teens (about 9 to 17)
This is the group the big game rooms are for. Casa Blue Horizon has air hockey, arcade basketball, two arcade machines and a PS5. On the Creek has a PS5, pool table and foosball. Goodtimes Waterfront has an Xbox, Oculus VR and poker, and a review from a 2024 guest mentions a kids’ room with video games as a favorite. If your group uses VR, check the console maker’s own age guidance, because we do not set one. Casa also has a golf cart and e-bikes, with rules: drivers 25 and older, e-bike riders 16 and older, a license and proof of insurance, and a $500 refundable deposit.
Adults and mixed groups
A pool table, poker table and board games work for adults after the kids are in bed. Goodtimes Waterfront guests have written that adults stayed up for pool while children slept in the separate wing. The Salty Parrot has a pool table that becomes a dining table, which is handy for a group that eats and plays in the same room. Guests aged 11 to 50 at one Goodtimes stay said everyone was entertained.
Grandparents and older relatives
Low-effort games travel well: pool, poker, board games, cornhole and movies. Goodtimes Waterfront guests have brought relatives in their 80s, and one wrote that it felt like a vacation for elderly relatives (Susan M., Aug 2024). Look at the sleeping setup and steps on the listing first, since game rooms and pools are only useful if everyone can reach them.
Picking the right home
- Choose Indian Shores Family Oasis if your group includes toddlers and older kids and you want the playroom and game room together. Its limits are one full bath, a busy road in front, and a pool set to about 80°F.
- Choose On the Creek or Casa Blue Horizon if your group is teens and adults. On the Creek has a game room, a heated pool, and a backyard on the water. Casa has the most arcade equipment and is four blocks from Indian Rocks Beach, but is new with only three reviews.
- Choose Goodtimes Waterfront if you have a large group of up to 16 and want a pool table, poker table and a dock. Guests have noted construction across the canal and hot water lag, so ask us how it is now.
- Choose The Salty Parrot if you want a pool table and ping pong in a house where each person has a room. The pool is not heated, so it suits spring through fall.
- Choose Tortuga Hideaway or Hibiscus House if you want outdoor games for a smaller group and do not need a pool table.

Rainy-day plan
Florida summers are wet. The National Weather Service Tampa Bay monthly normals for Tampa show about 7.4 inches of rain in June, 7.8 in July and 9.0 in August, compared with about 2.6 inches in January and February. Many afternoons bring storms, then the sun returns. Guests have told us the game room was a highlight on days when the weather was not cooperating. Heat is the other reason to plan indoor time in summer. An August 2025 guest at Goodtimes wrote, “Forgot about the pool table as it was so hot” (Maribel M., Aug 2025), meaning the family spent that stretch outdoors and the pool table sat idle.
Lightning is the reason to get out of the pool. The National Weather Service advises waiting 30 minutes after the last rumble of thunder before returning outdoors, and says to stay away from water during a storm. That makes a game room the natural place to go.
- Morning: pool and yard games while the sky is clear.
- Early afternoon: lunch in the kitchen, then an indoor tournament: pool, foosball, air hockey or shuffleboard, depending on the home.
- When thunder starts: everyone inside. Start a movie, a console game or a poker hand. Wait 30 minutes after the last thunder before going back out.
- Evening: fire pit if it is dry, popcorn machine at Goodtimes or Casa if not.
